The Ministerial Agency for Criminal Investigation (AMIC) of Sonora, in collaboration with the State Attorney General's Office, has captured Ramón Javier “N”, 73 years old, as the presumed responsible for a case of animal mistreatment and cruelty that resulted in the death of thirteen dogs and cats in the Villa Verde neighborhood, located north of Hermosillo.
The detention of Ramón Javier “N” took place on March 11 around 8:00 PM, on San Miguel Boulevard, between San René and San Luis, in the capital of Sonora. The complainants informed the authorities about the death of several animals that had been poisoned in the area, leading to an investigation by AMIC.
According to the investigations, Ramón Javier “N” allegedly used poisoned chicken feet to kill the animals. These chunks of meat were placed both in public areas and inside the homes in the mentioned neighborhood, where several pets, including dogs and cats, died immediately after ingesting the poison.
Ramón Javier “N” is not unknown to the justice system, as he has previous criminal records. In this regard, the State Attorney General's Office of Sonora reiterated its commitment to the pursuit of justice, acting immediately, professionally, and ethically to safeguard the rights of animals. In 2012, he was convicted for indecent acts and, more recently, in 2024, he was involved in the theft or loss of documents.
Following his detention, the 73-year-old man was taken to the Hermosillo Social Reintegration Center, where he will remain while his legal process advances. The capture was the result of an investigation that began after complaints made on March 5 by two neighbors of the Villa Verde neighborhood.
