Juárez Cartel Enters Conflict in Hermosillo

The Juárez Cartel has entered the capital of Sonora, joining Los Salazar and Los Matasalas in the fight for territory, according to Alberto Flores, commissioner of the Ministerial Criminal Investigation Agency (AMIC). Although the group had already ventured into Sonora, it had previously only been registered in municipalities close to Chihuahua, such as Yécora, the official noted.

In a narcomanta placed in a high school in Hermosillo (Cecytes), the Juárez Cartel announced its arrival in the capital with a threatening message directed at Los Salazar. The statement mentions: "The clean-up has arrived in the capital, we come for all the Salazars, we arrive with everything against you and all the government that helps you, also shooters, suppliers, and anyone who considers themselves a hitman." Additionally, the group cited El Tío del Cerro Colorado and El Güero de Villa Sauces as possible targets.

Alberto Flores highlighted the unique typography of the narcomanta, noting that it differs from previous ones. For its part, Los Matasalas, another group in dispute with Los Salazar, has left graffiti and hung threatening banners in schools in Hermosillo, causing concern among parents and leading some to withdraw their children from the schools.

After the appearance of messages from organized crime in several educational institutions, it was confirmed that they did not have security cameras, according to a report by El Financiero after speaking with teachers from the affected schools. So far, the Secretariat of Education and Culture (SEC) has not issued a statement regarding this matter.

On February 3, the collective Buscadoras de la Paz de Sonora discovered graves in Hermosillo. Although the authorities have not revealed the number of bodies found, the Attorney General of Sonora, Gustavo Rómulo Salas, stated that the deceased had been dead for weeks.
