Oscar Meza García, former director of the Traffic Police of Huitzilac, Morelos, was found dead inside a vehicle on the borders of Cuernavaca and Tepoztlán, one day after his disappearance was reported. The former official was being investigated for his alleged involvement in the kidnapping of Zahie Téllez Neme, a judge on the MasterChef Celebrity program.
The notice about the body wrapped in blankets and located inside the trunk of a Nissan Tsuru with license plates PVL-785-C was received around 6:00 PM on Thursday in the Ampliación Milpillas neighborhood, on the border between Cuernavaca and Tepoztlán. Upon confirming the finding, authorities cordoned off the area and municipal, state agents, the Mexican Army, the National Guard, and forensic personnel arrived at the scene.
Later, the Attorney General's Office of the State of Morelos confirmed the identity of the body as that of Óscar Meza García. The former director of the Traffic Police of Huitzilac, 52 years old, had been reported missing on January 28, when his family lost contact with him in Huitzilac.
Óscar Meza García was detained in connection with the kidnapping of Zahie Téllez Neme and her husband, Alberto Escobar, which occurred in November 2024. Although only one person, Fernando José "N", has been detained to date and faces charges of aggravated express kidnapping, the investigation into these events continues.
The former mayor of Huitzilac, Rafael Vargas, lamented the death of Meza García and thanked him for his dedication and love for the municipality through social media. During an operation at the Huitzilac City Hall, Meza García and other traffic agents were detained under suspicion of their involvement in the kidnapping, according to security camera images shown by the Attorney General in December.
The case is still under investigation by the authorities, and it is expected that the judicial process will advance in the coming weeks.
