The pilgrim community of Guanajuato is on alert after the disappearance of Juan Ramón Bustos Martínez, a 48-year-old man from Irapuato. On January 24, Juan Ramón disappeared while riding his bicycle towards the Basilica of San Juan de los Lagos in Jalisco. Approximately at 5 PM that day, his family lost contact with him.
Due to the lack of information about his whereabouts, Juan Ramón's family has sought help from the State Commission of Missing Persons of Guanajuato and Jalisco. They have also turned to social media to spread his case and expedite his location.
The State Police of Roads has increased its support to the pilgrim community, providing roadside assistance and accident prevention measures to ensure the safety of pilgrimages through Guanajuato.
The disappearance of Juan Ramón adds to a series of troubling events that have occurred on the route to San Juan de los Lagos. On January 27, the murder of a pilgrim was reported in León, at a rest camp on Boulevard La Luz, causing distress among the faithful.
Juan Ramón's family has requested any relevant information from the public that may assist in his location. They have attempted to communicate with him unsuccessfully through various means and are worried about his whereabouts. Juan Ramón was carrying a large camouflaged backpack and was riding a racing bicycle, apparently intending to make a pilgrimage.
