In León, the police managed to apprehend four suspected criminals following a chase that ended with the overturning of the vehicle they were trying to escape in. The incident took place on the León-Comanja de Corona highway, an area that has experienced an increase in vehicle theft cases in the past week.
According to the León Public Security Secretariat, three vehicle thefts have been reported on this same stretch in recent days, suggesting the possible involvement of the same criminal gang. In response to this situation, authorities deployed an operation that resulted in the detention of the suspects after a risky chase.
During the escape, the criminals fired gunshots, to which the police responded. It is presumed that the detainees are part of an active criminal gang in the area, as stated by Jorge Guillén Rico, the secretary of Public Security of León.
Rico urged citizens to report any vehicle theft cases and emphasized the importance of citizen collaboration to combat crime. The official also reported that one of the assailants was injured in the confrontation and that the report of the theft of the white Honda CR-V truck was received in the morning on the mentioned highway.
