The International Balloon Festival (FIG) in León will take place from November 15 to 18 at the Metropolitan Park of the city. To kick off the festivities, the traditional opening will be held on Thursday 14 with seven balloons available at five different locations: Expiatory Temple, Main Square, Santa Julia Park, San Sebastián Health Park, and Mini Deportivo Nuevo Milenio.
The opening activities will start at 6:30 PM and will include cultural performances and showcases of local talent. Yazmín Quiroz López, director of Hospitality and Tourism of León, highlighted the importance of FIG as one of the most relevant events for the city, as an attendance of 400 thousand people is expected, including local visitors, tourists, and excursionists, generating an estimated economic spill of 800 million pesos.
The Metropolitan Park of León has experienced remarkable growth in recent years, which has allowed for the expansion of FIG facilities and an improved experience for visitors. This year, 30 new hot air balloon figures and over 200 balloons from 25 countries will be presented, making the festival one of the most important internationally.
One of the innovations of this edition is the promotion of a 2-for-1 entry on the first day of the event, thanks to an agreement between the municipality and the organizers, with the aim that all León families can enjoy this celebration. The municipal president of León, Ale Gutiérrez, expressed her desire for FIG to be accessible to the entire community.
Among the most anticipated attractions are the musical performances, which will include presentations from artists such as J Balvin, Armin van Buuren, Marshmello, and Julián Álvarez, who promise to delight the attendees with their talent.
