In León, thanks to citizen initiative, a project was carried out with an investment of over 3 million pesos. The municipal president, Ale Gutiérrez, emphasized the importance of these spaces to promote physical activity, family gatherings, and a sense of community in the city. "We want León to be a vibrant city, with safe green areas for exercising and socializing," stated the mayor.
The project included the creation of a football field with artificial grass, stands, a paved walking path, and the renovation of existing areas. Through the Participatory Budget program, the Granada neighborhood inaugurated a modern sports park that has had a positive impact on the lives of its residents. Additionally, Zumba, dance, and football classes are offered for people of all ages.
The transformation of mini sports fields into sports parks is part of a broader plan by the Municipal Administration to strengthen the project "I Love León Alive and with More Parks," with the goal of establishing a network of green and sports areas throughout the city.
Soon, a new edition of the Participatory Budget program will take place, where citizens can vote for projects of their interest to determine how public resources will be invested in their neighborhoods. Voting will be conducted electronically from January 6 to January 20 with in-person voting in the 7 delegations.
