Juan Pablo Luna Mercado, who turned 64 in January, announced his retirement as director of the Metropolitan Park of León. Luna has held various public positions throughout his career, including roles in the PAN administration and management positions at Liconsa. He also headed various institutions such as IMUVI, PAOT, and Iplaneg.

With his departure, a handover process is taking place to ensure an orderly transition that does not affect the park's activities or services to users. The mayor of León, Alejandra Gutiérrez, will propose a shortlist to the park's board, which will choose the new director. This process is expected to be completed during February.

The Metropolitan Park of León, inaugurated in 1993, is a Protected Natural Area covering 337 hectares, with the reservoir of the El Palote dam constituting 85% of the land. Although potential candidates have not yet been announced, Luna emphasized the importance of selecting someone with competencies in sustainability, organizational skills, and the ability to work closely with the park's operational staff.

The space of the Metropolitan Park is a green lungs for the city and a meeting place for residents and visitors. Luna expressed his conviction that his successor will maintain this value and the importance of ensuring the continuity of proper management in the park.
