The Attorney General of the State announced that they continue the search for justice in the case of Milagros Monserrat. During the hearing, the judge dismissed the defendant's defense, who claimed it was a robbery attempt. The sentence for Miguel de Jesús 'N' is expected on Friday, February 7, with the possibility of receiving a sentence of 35 to 60 years in prison.
Milagros Monserrat, 40 years old, was brutally murdered with at least five stab wounds in León, Guanajuato, on her birthday. The victim was attacked while heading to her job as a cashier at a supermarket, just half a block from her home.
The aggressor, who was following her, stabbed her multiple times in broad daylight, ignoring her cries for help. Although Milagros called her mother to warn her that someone was following her, her life was mercilessly taken by the individual, who then fled the scene without taking her belongings.
The attack was captured on video that went viral on social media, which allowed the identification of the aggressor as Miguel de Jesús 'N'. This man was arrested shortly after in another city and pleaded guilty to the femicide of Milagros Monserrat Meza de la Rosa.
In the subsequent hearing, Miguel de Jesús 'N' was found guilty of "non-intimate femicide" against Milagros Monserrat. The judge determined that it was a chance encounter that revealed hatred and misogyny in the aggressor's behavior. The Guanajuato Prosecutor's Office was able to prove his responsibility in this atrocious crime that shocked society.
