María del Carmen Ibarra Trujillo submitted her resignation as head of the Auxiliary Attorney's Office for the Protection of Girls, Boys, and Adolescents (PAPNNA) in León, Guanajuato. Following her departure, Lucía López Collazo took over the position as interim manager while a new head is appointed.
The councilor from Morena and president of the Commission for Girls, Boys, and Adolescents, Vanesa Montes de Oca, expressed her concern about the continuity of the PAPNNA, emphasizing the importance of guaranteeing the protection of children's and adolescents' rights in the municipality. She highlighted the need to promptly appoint a new head, considering that the attorney's office has an allocated budget of over 50 million pesos for the 2025 fiscal year.
The PAPNNA was created in May 2024 under the administration of the mayor, Alejandra Gutiérrez, with the aim of coordinating actions to protect children and adolescents in León. Ibarra Trujillo's resignation poses challenges for the continuity of the attorney's office's work and the effective use of the allocated budget of over 50 million pesos.
Municipal authorities must proceed with the appointment of a new head for the PAPNNA, ensuring that the transition is as smooth as possible to avoid impacting the functions of the attorney's office. Ibarra Trujillo's resignation was notified to the entity's council by the secretary of the City Hall, Arturo Navarro.
