Improvements in Public Safety Reported by León Mayor

Jorge Guillén Rico presented an activity report at the Velaria of the Fair, marking one year since he assumed the position. According to the Secretary of Security, Prevention, and Citizen Protection, there was an 18.13% reduction in intentional homicides and a 4.6% decrease in property crimes.

Among the highlighted achievements, Guillén Rico mentioned the creation of new operational groups such as Halcón Motorizado, Rural Police, Secure Heritage, and My Safe School. He also emphasized the strengthening of the Specialized Tactical Group (GET) and the Analysis and Investigation Unit. The strengthening of the Analysis and Information Unit with a Cybersecurity area was also announced to address property crimes, extortion, and high-impact crimes.

Regarding investment, 290 million pesos were allocated to infrastructure projects for security, in addition to a salary increase of up to 40.7% for the members of the corporation. New patrol units, tactical vehicles, and weapons were acquired to enhance the operational capacity of the local police.

Despite the progress, the authorities acknowledged that challenges in security still exist and emphasized the need to continue strengthening operations and prevention strategies. The municipal president, Ale Gutiérrez, stated that resources would not be spared to improve security in León. "The most valuable thing we have in this corporation is the people, who continue to train and seek to grow; we invest in what yields the best results, which are the people that make up the Public Security Secretariat," the mayor commented.
