The Secretary of Public Security of Matehuala, Jorge “N”, was detained for drug possession and is presumed to be involved in the illegal deprivation of liberty of seven electricians who were reported missing and later found alive in San Luis Potosí. In a second operation, the official Pablo Ernesto “N” was also detained for the same crimes, according to sources from the city council headed by the PAN member, Raúl Ortega Rodríguez. According to municipal workers, Pablo Ernesto “N” managed the areas of commerce, public works, alcohol, and security where he allegedly committed various acts of corruption and embezzlement of resources. Detention of the Secretary of Security of Matehuala In a press release, the Secretariat of Public Security reported that Pablo Ernesto “N”, 40 years old, was apprehended. 29 doses of marijuana with an approximate weight of 180 grams, as well as a Chevrolet pickup truck, model 2025, were seized from him. In a second action, stemming from an anonymous complaint, state and federal elements detained Jorge “N”, 42, who identified himself as the director of the Municipal Police of Matehuala. From the police director, 52 bags of marijuana with an approximate weight of 334 grams, three bags of “crystal” with a weight of 30 grams, and an official Nissan Versa vehicle were seized. Both individuals are presumed to be involved in the case of the seven electricians who were deprived of their liberty while traveling on highway 57 in the vicinity of this municipality. Detained Officials of Matehuala It should be recalled that this is not the first time that officials from Matehuala have been detained for committing crimes of this type. A couple of years ago, on the same stretch of road, a group of undocumented immigrants traveling on a bus was deprived of their liberty. In this incident, the head of security and the current PAN-turned-MORENA mayor, Iván Estrada Guzmán, was also implicated, being accused of ties to organized crime and human trafficking. Seven Missing Electricians Found Alive in Matehuala The seven young workers from the electrical sector who were reported missing on Monday were located alive and are in the facilities of the Prosecutor's Office of San Luis Potosí, reported the municipal government of the locality of Matehuala. Through a publication on its social networks, the local government announced that the seven electricians have been located and are with the judicial authorities to carry out the “corresponding procedures.” For the moment, the place where the workers were found and the circumstances surrounding their disappearance have not been made public. “The Municipal Government recognizes the coordination between security and justice agencies that allowed for their location, and reiterates its commitment to continue working for the tranquility of the Matehuala families,” indicated the department. Hours earlier, these seven people were reported as missing after losing contact with their families on March 21 in the municipality of Matehuala. According to reports, the men, from Cárdenas, had left on March 16 to carry out work at different points in the San Luis Potosi plateau and were returning on the Matehuala-Cárdenas highway when communication with them was lost. According to versions collected by local media, a third person alerted about a possible illegal deprivation of liberty, although to date the authorities have not confirmed this hypothesis. The missing men, aged between 20 and 30, were identified as Ángel Daniel Pérez López, Miguel Ángel Pérez Olivo, Jaciel Zapata García, Omar Godoy Galván, Said Hernán Olvera, Celso López González, and Macario Torres Castillo.
