The Attorney General's Office of Sinaloa state reported that José Manuel “N”, aged 24, was arrested for his alleged involvement in the femicide of mother-searcher Rubí Patricia Gómez Tagle. Rubí Patricia was a member of the collective “Corazones Unidos por una Misma Causa A.C.,” dedicated to searching for people, after the disappearance of her son, Edgar Daniel López, on May 29, 2025. Her death occurred on Friday, February 27, 2026, at a residence in the Infonavit Jabalíes neighborhood, in Mazatlán, Sinaloa, and she was found with injuries from a sharp weapon that caused her death. The Attorney General's Office explained in a press release that José Manuel's arrest was carried out through the work of the South Zone Investigation Police and the Specialized Apprehension Unit (UNESA). “As a result of investigative acts and intelligence work, it was possible to establish the identity of the probable responsible party and obtain the corresponding arrest warrant,” the institution indicated. José Manuel “N” was presented before the First Instance Court of Control and Criminal Proceedings of the South Region, which will determine his legal situation. The Attorney General's Office assured that it will continue with the necessary procedures to guarantee the follow-up of the case and access to justice for the victim and her family. It should be recalled that Rubí's body was located inside a residence, in the vicinity of Luis Donaldo Colosio Murrieta, an area where President Claudia Sheinbaum held her morning press conference just hours earlier, on February 27. In this regard, the president, during her morning press conference this Wednesday, March 4, lamented the event and stated that the alleged perpetrator was close to the victim. “It was also classified as femicide. There are videos of the person who enters the apartment, and it is a person known to her who unfortunately commits this homicide,” she stated.
Suspect in Murder of Mother-Searcher Arrested in Mexico
