Carnaval de Mazatlán, one of the most outstanding events in the region, will take place this year with a special theme: The Pearl. The festivities will be held from Thursday, February 27 to Tuesday, March 4, and will include a variety of activities for the enjoyment of attendees.
The activity program includes everything from the coronation of kings and queens, parades and dances, to performances by renowned guest artists. One of the most anticipated points was the performance of Grupo Firme, originally scheduled for March 3 at the Teodoro Mariscal stadium. However, the group announced on their social media the cancellation of their show as part of the Carnaval de Mazatlán.
"We deeply regret to inform you that the performance of Grupo Firme for this March 3 at Carnaval de Mazatlán is canceled. We are already ready for the Carnaval," they expressed in a statement shared on their social media. The decision to cancel their participation came after receiving death threats through a narcomanta, in which they were demanded to suspend their performance at the event.
On the other hand, the Carnaval will feature the presence of renowned artists such as Plácido Domingo, Alejandro Sanz, and La Adictiva, among others. Unfortunately, Jorge Medina and Josi Cuén, former members of La Arrolladora Banda El Limón, canceled their performance citing "issues unrelated" to them, without providing further explanations.
Amid uncertainty and concern, local and state authorities have implemented a comprehensive security operation to ensure the protection of attendees and tourists during the festivities. A force of 155 personnel, including ambulances, doctors, paramedics, and rescuers, will be deployed to safeguard security in the port of Mazatlán.
The mayor of Mazatlán, Estrella Palacios Domínguez, emphasized the municipality's commitment to safety and citizen care during the Carnaval celebration. Collaboration with the Federal and State Government will allow the deployment of three thousand uniformed personnel from various corporations to reinforce security along the boardwalk and the main roadways of the region.
Amid uncertainty and tension due to the threats received, the Carnaval de Mazatlán 2025 is expected to be an event full of joy and fun, celebrating the rich cultural tradition of the region and enjoying the various activities planned for the enjoyment of attendees.
