The former Regional Prosecutor in Cuautitlán Mexico, Elohim Díaz, who was currently serving as Secretary of the Public Ministry, was murdered in a restaurant in Metepec, State of Mexico. The attack prompted a heavy security deployment in the area, with the presence of municipal and state police, as well as elements of the Army and the National Guard.
According to initial reports, Díaz had been assigned a security detail, but he was not with him at the time of the attack, as he was in the bathroom. There is a possibility that the former official may have had alleged ties to the La Familia cartel, although this aspect is still under investigation.
In addition to Elohim Díaz, another person identified as Cristian "N", a local businessman, also lost his life in the attack. The State of Mexico Prosecutor's Office reported that Díaz submitted his resignation on January 9 and was detained to clarify the events and determine responsibilities.
The incident has shocked the community, causing a climate of tension in the Lázaro Cárdenas neighborhood of Metepec. Security has been reinforced in the area, while the investigation continues to clarify the motives behind this violent attack.
