On the afternoon of this Tuesday, at the family restaurant El Portalito in the Agrícola Lázaro Cárdenas neighborhood, in the municipality of Metepec, State of Mexico, Elohim Díaz Jiménez, former regional prosecutor of Cuautitlán, was shot dead. Accompanied by a businessman identified as Cristian, both were attacked by four armed men inside the establishment, resulting in both men killed as victims of the attack.
The Attorney General's Office of the State of Mexico reported that it is already investigating the double homicide, although, for the moment, more details about this crime are unknown. Díaz Jiménez had submitted his resignation from the position of Secretary of Public Ministry R-1 on January 9, after being removed from his position as Regional Prosecutor of Cuautitlán due to an investigation against him for alleged links with the 'La Familia Michoacana' cartel.
Following the double homicide, authorities deployed an operation throughout the municipality with the participation of federal, state, and municipal forces in search of those responsible. However, as of the night of that same Tuesday, no positive results had been obtained in identifying the killers.
Elohim Díaz Jiménez, in addition to being a former regional prosecutor of Cuautitlán, served as deputy secretary of police operations in the Michoacán Public Security Secretariat. At the federal level, he worked as an agent in the defunct Federal Investigation Agency (AFI) and as a Federal Public Minister in what was the Attorney General's Office (PGR). His work history also includes experience in the intelligence undersecretary in the Michoacán Public Security Secretariat.
