Facilitating Employment Insertion for Students in Monterrey

CEPA facilitates students' job insertion through self-exploration. Ariel Agosto, Associate Director of Test Development at College Board Latin America, mentioned during the IFE Conference 2025 in Monterrey that choosing a university career is a complex process that requires tools to help individuals discover their lifestyle and work preferences. Agosto recommended starting occupational exploration at an early age so that students can make informed decisions in the future.

CEPA (Know, Explore, Plan, and Act) is a tool developed by College Board Latin America to assist basic and upper secondary schools in the self-exploration process of students. This tool analyzes occupational interests and values, skills, self-perception, and motivation, creating vocational profiles that guide students in choosing their careers.

Agosto highlighted the importance of starting self-exploration at 12 years old and repeating it at 15, with results materializing around 17 to 18 years old. The CEPA inventory helps students identify their occupational interests and values, allowing them to explore different educational and training options, in collaboration with tutors and mentors.

On the other hand, it was noted that globalization and the pandemic have influenced new generations, demanding both hard and soft skills, as well as greater socio-emotional support. Starting to apply CEPA from an early age and repeating it over time can help young people make more informed decisions about their future careers.

In an interview conducted during the event, Agosto emphasized the importance for young people to question their post-high school preparation and make informed decisions about their education and career future, avoiding following paths solely for economic reasons. Through self-exploration and analysis of interests and values, students can identify what they expect from a job and thus choose careers that align with their goals and expectations.

This sector reached profitability levels above the national average, which could impact the stability and competitiveness of the fuel market in the region.

Additionally, the Government of the State of Nuevo León relaunched the distinctive 'Made in Nuevo León' seal to strengthen local businesses.
