Between February and March 2026, Monterrey's Water and Drainage Service attended to 26,000 citizen reports, performed preventive maintenance on the network, and advanced in the renewal of sanitary infrastructure in the metropolitan area. This is part of the permanent maintenance, conservation, and care actions for the sanitary drainage system in Nuevo León. The state agency reported that crews addressed reports related to street and sidewalk drain clogs. Of the total, approximately 20,000 were resolved within a period of 12 to 48 hours. Additionally, work was carried out such as replacing sewer manhole covers and canceling illegal discharges. In the same period, field personnel performed preventive maintenance on 212,000 meters of pipe through cleaning tasks with high-pressure water injection, which allowed for the removal of accumulated solids and the prevention of clogs or collapses in the network. In the same period, crews from various operational centers renewed over 3,000 meters of sanitary sewer pipe in various streets of the metropolitan area, mainly due to deterioration and the end of the infrastructure's useful life. Over 700 residential sewer lines were also replaced. A call to maintain a healthy drainage system Monterrey's Water and Drainage Service urges users not to dispose of waste in the sanitary sewer. Among the most commonly found objects in the drains are wet wipes, fats, oils, hair, feminine hygiene products, diapers, and condoms. Also bags, ropes, sand, stones, chemicals, or any other solid waste, in order to prevent collapses and overflows, and to contribute to a more efficient system for the benefit of all.
