Monterrey's Sewer System Modernization

The Monterrey Water and Drainage Services (AyD) intensified its efforts to modernize the sanitary sewer network in the metropolitan area. Just last week, the state-owned company's crews replaced over 900 meters of pipe in various neighborhoods after detecting ducts that had reached the end of their service life. The work was carried out in Monterrey, Juárez, and Apodaca. In Monterrey, 70 linear meters were intervened in the Buenos Aires neighborhood, 100 in Fomerrey 112, 10 in Garza Nieto, 105 in the Centro, and 55 in Niño Artillero. In Juárez, 400 meters were replaced in the Garza y Garza neighborhood and 80 in the Portal de Juárez, while in Apodaca, 98 meters were renewed in the Centro. By the close of the second week of April 2026, AyD has accumulated 5,443 meters of renovated sanitary network, 819 replaced residential lines, and 246,497 meters of washed pipes, mainly 8, 10, and 16 inches in diameter. The organization reaffirmed its commitment to users to provide quality service and invited them to make reports and inquiries through number 073 or its official social networks. Attending to reports As part of permanent actions for maintenance, conservation, and care of the sanitary sewer system in Nuevo León, between January and March, Agua y Drenaje attended to 26,000 citizen reports, performed preventive maintenance on the network, and advanced in the renovation of sanitary infrastructure in the metropolitan area. The state-owned entity reported that crews attended to reports related to street and sidewalk sewer clogs. Of the total, approximately 20,000 were resolved within a period of 12 to 48 hours. Additionally, work was carried out such as replacing sewer manhole covers and canceling illegal discharges. In the same period, field personnel performed preventive maintenance on 212,000 meters of pipe through cleaning work with high-pressure water injection, which allowed for the removal of accumulated solids and prevented clogs or collapses in the network.
