Bienal Femsa Returns to Monterrey

The Femsa Biennial, an exhibition that celebrates more than three decades of history in contemporary art in Mexico, has returned to Monterrey and Nuevo León. The curation of the exhibition, led by Daniel Garza Usabiaga, aims not only to provide a visual tour through the selected works but also to generate a debate about the role of art in the present.

The show, which previously took place at the Museum of Art and History of Guanajuato, brings together more than 80 works by 54 recognized artists such as Carlos Amorales, Iñaki Bonillas, Betsabeé Romero, Adela Goldbard, and Tercerunquinto, among others. It will be open to the public at the Centro de las Artes de Conarte until July 13, 2025, with free admission for the public to enjoy it from Tuesday to Sunday, from 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM.

Daniel Garza Usabiaga, curator of the exhibition and director of the Museum of the Palace of Fine Arts, highlighted the Femsa Biennial's ability to adapt to changes in the artistic ecosystem, marking significant milestones in its evolution. Laura Pacheco, manager of the Collection and Femsa Biennial, emphasized the importance of presenting this exhibition in Monterrey, a city that hosted the Biennial for 12 editions.

Melissa Segura, Secretary of Culture of Nuevo León, highlighted the impact of the Femsa Biennial on the formation of audiences and artists, stressing the relevance of this cultural initiative in the region. The retrospective exhibition titled "30 Years in the Art World" offers visitors a unique opportunity to learn about the history and impact of the Biennial on contemporary Mexican art, consolidating its legacy in the national and regional artistic scene.
