The city of Monterrey aims to become a model of sustainability and to achieve this, it has called on residents for a new edition of the "Recycle and Solve" program, which this time had a drive-thru format. Through the Secretary of Sustainable Urban Development and the General Direction for Green Development, various materials were collected for reuse in the parking lot of a shopping center.
The event seeks to consolidate the recycling culture, offer responsible options for waste disposal, and advance towards a circular economy. Attendees delivered recyclable materials from their vehicles or on foot, receiving a native plant in return as a symbol of the shared environmental commitment with the municipal authorities.
During the day, plastics and bottle caps, electronics, paper and cardboard, glass, iron and tin, as well as clothing and textiles in good condition were received. This initiative is part of the Monterrey Sustainable strategy, aligned with the Municipal Development Plan to position the capital of Nuevo León as a leading city in nature conservation.
"Recycle and Solve" has already had four successful editions in this administration, collectively managing to collect just over 12 tons of recyclables. Mayor Adrián De la Garza invites the entire citizenry to participate and actively contribute with actions like this, which add to the environmental well-being of Monterrey.
In a previous edition of "Recycle and Solve," as part of the Monterrey government's efforts to make the city sustainable, clean, and uncontaminated, Mayor Adrián de la Garza signed a collaboration agreement with the company Alen del Norte. With this agreement, both institutions promote the recycling of materials in exchange for cleaning products. For the mayor, such programs are highly beneficial as they assist authorities in the work for a healthy environment.
