Sesame Plaza will once again be a meeting and family recreation point, after the concessionaire returned the space to the state government to convert it into a lung for the city. The governor of Nuevo León, Samuel García, led a meeting of the Board of Directors of Fundidora Park in which it was agreed to socially utilize this polygon.

Sesame Plaza closed its doors in 2020 during the pandemic, but an approved termination agreement has allowed the 10 hectares under concession to return to the people of Nuevo León, including the buildings, electrical network, halls, and theaters in the eastern area of the park. Fundidora Park will develop a master plan to redesign more than 20 hectares and turn this area into an urban lung.

"It is a true opportunity for the State to have these green and public areas at no cost to the entire citizenry," expressed Governor Samuel García, highlighting the benefit of increasing green areas for the community. Additionally, they will join other projects, such as the Water Park, leading up to the World Cup in 2026.

Bernardo Bichara, executive president of the Board of Directors of Fundidora Park, explained that this decision returns to the people of Nuevo León spaces that will allow for a better park for future generations. The positive impact of quality public spaces on citizens' lives is emphasized.

Sesame Plaza opened its doors on October 10, 1995, and became an instant success by presenting characters from the television program such as Beto, Enrique, Abelardo, and Lola. Among the highlighted attractions were Count Contar’s Castle, mechanical rides, and various pools for children and adults.
