The Catrinas Festival took place for the first time in Plaza Zaragoza as part of the Día de Muertos celebrations organized by the Government of Monterrey. The event was part of the first edition of the Festival de Las Almas Regias and stood out for the presence of skulls, fashion, and color.

On this occasion, around 50 models and beauty queens from various municipalities of Nuevo León participated in a fashion show dressed as Catrinas. Rubén Dávila, director of Miss Teen Nuevo León, thanked the organization for making this great spectacle possible, while Silvia Nancy García, general director of Tourism is Culture, explained that the festival aimed to pay tribute to the cultural identity of the region with respect and tradition.

The event was attended by personalities such as Gabriela Oyervides, president of DIF Monterrey, Ximena Tamariz García, secretary of Economic Development, and Erika López from the Santa Lucía International Festival.

The evening began with a performance by singer Fátima Villarreal singing “La Llorona” in Nahuatl, followed by the runway show of representatives from the municipalities of Nuevo León showcasing elegant Catrina outfits. During the intermission, a show of colorful alebrijes was presented, along with a performance by Catrinas and Catrines dressed as mariachi, juggling with fire.

In the second part, the participants showcased evening gowns followed by seven outfits inspired by Mexican culture, culminating in an ovation from the audience who applauded the effort and dedication of all the participants who paraded.
