Monterrey Launches Emergency Cold Weather Operations

This week it is expected that the coldest days will be Tuesday and Wednesday, with temperatures reaching zero and minus two degrees. In light of this situation, municipalities began operations early to provide warmth and comfort to citizens; despite this, caution is recommended in light of the low temperatures, especially with children and the elderly.

In Monterrey, the local government began an emergency operation in coordination with the municipal DIF to protect vulnerable families. Mayor Adrián de la Garza and the president of DIF, Gaby Oyervides, visited the Gloria Mendiola neighborhood to implement actions that will extend in the coming days. More than 300 blankets and basic food packages were delivered to those who needed them most.

Meanwhile, Civil Protection Nuevo León, through the Carrusel Operation, provided support and hot drinks to people in vulnerable situations at various points in the state. Likewise, in San Pedro, the Secretary of Public Security, as part of the Warm and Close San Pedro operation, distributed hot drinks and blankets at transportation stops and other places in the city.

In Guadalupe, the Carrusel Operation was reactivated to deliver hot drinks and blankets to vulnerable individuals. More than 30 simultaneous points were established in coordination with Civil Protection and the municipal DIF System to provide support during this warm wave. The community is advised to follow Civil Protection recommendations, and those wishing to collaborate are encouraged to do so to make a significant difference.
