New Proposal to Eradicate Gender Violence

After presenting a progress report, proposals for plans and actions to strengthen prevention, security and justice measures ordered by the Declaration of Gender Violence Alert against Women (DAVGM), Graciela Buchanan has presented a project to advance this issue. In this regard, the aim is to define a budget plan for the implementation of the DAVGM measures in the 2025 fiscal year, standardize actions across all municipalities to ensure compliance with the measures, and reinforce coordination between the Women's Secretariat and municipal governments to address the points indicated in previous rulings.

The state official held a working meeting with municipalities declared with a Gender Violence Alert against Women (AVGM), which included representatives from several municipalities, including Apodaca, Cadereyta Jiménez, Guadalupe, Juárez, and Monterrey, as well as some under investigation such as Ciénega de Flores, García, General Escobedo, and Salinas Victoria. Buchanan emphasized the importance of these initiatives as part of the necessary state support to ensure that the agreements and strategies proposed are fulfilled.

The Gender Alert against Women is mentioned as a federal mechanism that obliges authorities at all orders and levels of government to implement coordinated and temporary actions to confront and eradicate feminicide violence. Graciela Buchanan emphasized that the goal of this alert is to ensure the safety of women and girls, to cease violence against them, and, if applicable, to eliminate inequalities generated by public policies that undermine their human rights.

The Secretary of Women detailed that it is necessary to analyze a series of factors together to work on the elimination of gender violence, addressing aspects of security, containment, and legislation. She also underscored that the Women's Secretariat has the authority, according to Article 37 of the Organic Law, to coordinate, monitor, and evaluate the corresponding measures of the Gender Violence Alert against Women, with the purpose of providing security and comprehensive care to all women.

Finally, the secretary reiterated the commitment to continue working in a coordinated manner to eradicate violence against women, recognize their rights, protect their integrity and personal growth, both for them and their families, through equal opportunities.
