According to information obtained by LPO, the leader of the National Action Party (PAN), Raúl Gracia, has not had conversations with Luis Donaldo Colosio regarding his possible incorporation into the party as a candidate for governor, despite rumors this week.
Sources close to Gracia indicate that the rumors are part of a media strategy by the state leader Policarpo Flores, who has the backing of Gracia and Fernando Canales. This situation arises due to discontent with the PRI administration in Monterrey regarding the distribution of positions.
Gracia has decided not to directly confront PRI leaders, as he believes that Mayor Adrián de la Garza has not ceded certain key positions in the municipal administration. Therefore, he allows Flores Peña to continue as a "spokesperson" without personal confrontations.
The stance of maintaining the relationship with the PRI is based on the lack of strong profiles within the PAN for the gubernatorial candidacy, and Gracia acknowledges that not joining forces with the PRI could result in a victory for Morena in the state. In this context, Luis Donaldo Colosio Riojas is considered the strongest candidate linked to the PAN for this position in recent years.
Although some PAN members mention Fernando Canales Stelzer, Fernando Margáin, or Daniel Carrillo as possible candidates, they fail to generate sufficient electoral traction to reach the state executive.
Regarding the relationship between PAN representatives and Colosio, it is reported that it remains in positive terms. However, the senator from Movimiento Ciudadano shows sensitivity after his defeat against Morena, losing control in Nuevo León but managing to maintain his seat in the upper house.
