The National Action Party (PAN) is moving to define its mayoral candidacy in Monterrey, and the possibility of the coordinator of deputies, Carlos de la Fuente, has resurfaced. De la Fuente's team considers that he maintains a strategy focused on retaining the PAN's stronghold in San Nicolás, however, the party has not ruled him out as a candidate for the capital; it is said that he has been approached with this offer, although the legislator believes that PAN did not take him into account at key moments, such as his recent launch as a gubernatorial candidate. Nevertheless, this version is gaining strength within the party in case the Electoral Reform—whether influenced by the federal government or local negotiations for the 2026 Budget—includes a gender quota that prevents him from running in San Nicolás. As the pre-election year approaches, PAN continues to pressure the Institutional Revolutionary Party (PRI) for key positions in Nuevo León. Thus, it would cede the municipality to federal deputy Lily Olivares, while De la Fuente could move his operation to Monterrey. This publication also anticipated the internal launch of Fernando Margáinen from the Palacio de Cristal to a key position in the entity, which, beyond the profile's importance, served as a warning from PAN that it is ready to make concessions on Monterrey and the governorship. Near Raúl Gracia, the names of Margáin Sada and Arturo Salinas have been floated as candidates for Monterrey. It should be said: Gracia is not interested in promoting Salinas's political career, as he vetoed his succession plans in the Judicial Branch.
