Deputy demands Monterrey mayor terminate contract with Next Energy

Deputy Sandra Pámanes demanded that the mayor of Monterrey, Adrián de la Garza, immediately terminate the energy contract with the company Next Energy, which is linked to multiple irregularities. This occurred after Eugenio Maiz Domene, the owner of Next Energy, was accused of fraud and placed in preventive detention in a prison in Aguascalientes for allegedly failing to comply with an energy supply contract in that city. "Time has proven us right, when we denounced this type of agreement by Adrián de la Garza at the time," Pámanes stated. She emphasized that this issue affects Monterrey in particular because it involves a company and the consequences of entering into this type of contract that harms municipal finances. According to the deputy, the data and information available could help federal authorities in their investigation and gather more evidence against this businessman, so that he can be held accountable to the administrations not only of Aguascalientes, but also of Nuevo León and Monterrey. "There is a major embezzlement of Monterrey's finances here, and there is direct responsibility because the origin of this problem lies in the previous administration of Adrián de la Garza and persists in the current one. In exchange for what is Adrián de la Garza making this type of agreement?" she questioned. Therefore, the demand is that the contract that still exists in Monterrey with Next Energy, the company mentioned and questioned, be rescinded, for which reason this businessman, the owner of the company, is already at the disposal of the federal authority, Pámanes manifested. She pointed out that the conditions that existed in Monterrey are the same ones for which he is now imprisoned due to complaints in other municipalities, breach of contract and fraudulent actions. "Imagine committing the municipality's resources for 30 years, without the citizens obtaining a direct benefit," she added. Sandra Pámanes questioned whether the Mayor has reported if he has already filed the corresponding complaint for breach of contract, when this action could help the federal authority in the investigation they are already carrying out. "The only thing we know and read in the information is that they are still analyzing the compliance of the contract; imagine if at this point they are still analyzing whether or not to apply sanctions to the company," she indicated.
