A negotiation meeting between the Nuevo León local Congress and the Executive Branch regarding the 2026 Budget left more questions than answers. Despite anticipated disagreements, Movimiento Ciudadano (MC) proposed a new curtain for the El Cuchillo Dam, costing 2.7 billion pesos, a plan the opposition rejected. In parallel, the Executive Branch reportedly requested debt options between 8,000 and 11,000 million pesos and the appointment of Ulises Carlin as Treasurer. Opposition leaders criticized the proposal for new projects while existing major works remain unfinished. They pointed out that Agua y Drenaje is bankrupt and cannot manage previously allocated funds. The opposition stated they will not approve new debt until current projects, especially the Metro, are completed.
