The president stated: 'This person's detention is for false accusation, as it also appears there was extortion.' Senator Waldo Fernández González confirmed through a message on his social networks that the capture of the official and other people involved is the result of a complaint he filed due to the alleged fabrication of crimes. 'Her detention along with other people has to do with a complaint that I presented and that has to do with a setup and fabrication of facts,' the senator stated. President of Mexico, Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo, informed during her morning conference this Monday that the detention of Karina Barrón Perales, Secretary of Human Development and Substantive Equality of Monterrey, is part of an investigation for false statements and alleged extortion. According to official reports from the National Registry of Detentions, the municipal official and former Senate candidate was apprehended by elements of the Attorney General's Republic on Sunday, March 1st at 3:45 PM in the municipality of San Nicolás de los Garza, Nuevo León. Sheinbaum detailed that the case was analyzed during the security cabinet meeting, where it was established that the detention derived from a complaint filed by Morena Senator Waldo Fernández González. The head of state indicated that Karina Barrón would have fabricated accusations of harassment and sexual assault against the legislator during the past electoral process. 'It is a matter of an accusation that the senator had for harassment or rape and he demonstrates that the accusation was false.'
