The future of the alliance between the PRI and the PAN in Nuevo León remains uncertain, with the state presidency of the PAN, led by Gracia, taking positions regarding the gubernatorial candidacy of Adrián De la Garza.
Gracia believes that if De la Garza is to be the candidate for governor, the PAN also needs to define candidates in Monterrey and Guadalupe. For this reason, he has placed a trusted person in the party leadership to support the former delegate of Benito Juárez. For now, Gracia does not want to break the alliance with the PRI, fearing that it could harm the PAN in several states and favor Morena in the long run.
However, he is in favor of conducting a detailed analysis in each state. He does not rule out the possibility of a major agreement that includes the Front with MC if Morena arrives weakened to the midterm elections on issues such as the economy and security. Zeferino Salgado, on the other hand, advocates for maintaining the alliance with the PRI and has worked in favor of Romero within the PAN.
Gracia has also expressed his interest in controlling the state Congress if the PRI insists on retaining one of the two key municipalities. His message is directly related to a possible support for the candidacy of Lorena De la Garza, the current head of the state legislature. It has been revealed that Gracia contacted this week the national leader of the PAN, Jorge Romero, to discuss the necessity of analyzing the alliance with the PRI in light of 2027.
This stance from Gracia would imply excluding a possible PAN candidate from the contest. Additionally, in reserved political circles, another idea is shared which Gracia supports, pointing to potential future scenarios in the political alliance between the parties.
