Los Rayados de Monterrey have shown interest in signing Spanish player Sergio Ramos to strengthen their defense line for the Clausura 2025 of Liga MX. According to reports from Diego Armando Medina of TUDN, the Mexican team contacted the central defender to discuss the possibility of joining the club wearing the albiazul jersey. Monterrey initially planned to sign Carlos Cuesta, but they have now shifted their efforts towards Ramos, the former Real Madrid player.

Monterrey has offered a one-year contract to Sergio Ramos and is expected to send a doctor and a fitness coach to Spain in the coming hours to conduct medical tests before closing the deal. The transfer market closes on February 2, although for players who are free agents, like Ramos, the registration extends until March 7. This decision will test the Monterrey management, who must free up a foreign player slot if they wish to include a non-Mexican like Ramos, as all their slots are currently occupied.

If an agreement with Sergio Ramos is not reached, Monterrey would consider revisiting the option of signing Colombian Carlos Cuesta, for which they would have to pay five million dollars. The possibility of incorporating Ramos in Liga MX has generated expectations among Rayados fans, as it would be one of the most significant signings in the history of Mexican football.
