The Spanish financial institution BBVA extended the sponsorship agreement with Club de Fútbol Monterrey, keeping the name of the stadium for five more years. The venue, which will be called Estadio BBVA, will retain this name at least until 2030.
Willie González, a sports analyst, announced the news on a radio program, highlighting the importance of this renewal for the club. "I am in a position to confirm to all the fans of Club de Fútbol Monterrey that BBVA will renew the stadium's naming for five more years," González expressed.
Inaugurated in 2015, the stadium had signed a 10-year contract with BBVA, which would expire in 2025. However, the extension of the agreement ensures that the venue will be called Estadio BBVA at least until 2030. It is worth mentioning that during the 2026 World Cup, stadiums cannot carry the name of a sponsor, so during that period, the venue will be known only as Estadio Monterrey.
BBVA acquired the naming rights to the stadium, which were previously held by the owners of Femsa. Although the exact amount of the sponsorship was not revealed, it is estimated to be in line with similar sponsorships in MLS, ranging from 5 to 10 million dollars a year.
Club de Fútbol Monterrey has recently incorporated Spanish players into its squad, contributing to a "Spanishization" of the team. The renewal of the contract with BBVA consolidates this relationship and strengthens the presence of the entity in the sports field.
In addition to the extension with BBVA, Monterrey also renewed its alliance with Codere Online to remain the Official Betting House until 2029. Since 2021, both entities have been collaborating in various tournaments, such as Liga BBVA MX and the CONCACAF Champions League, strengthening the presence of the Codere brand in the club.
