The management of Rayados de Monterrey is facing an unexpected dilemma on their way to the round of 16 of the Concachampions 2025 due to the visit of Colombian singer Shakira. The artist will perform a concert at Estadio BBVA on March 12, coinciding with the second leg of the Concachampions matches for Rayados. This forces them to seek alternatives for the venue of the second leg, as the preparation of the stage for the concert makes it impossible to use BBVA on that date.
In case Monterrey's rival advances (between Saprissa and Vancouver Whitecaps), it has been made clear that they will not be willing to change their dates, complicating the situation for the Monterrey team. If Saprissa advances, the date of the home game will be changed, forcing Monterrey to modify their schedule. If Vancouver reaches the next round, the match would be held in Monterrey, but the venue would have to be changed.
Among the possible alternatives, the Estadio Universitario of Tigres or the TSM of Torreón have been considered, although neither is perceived as ideal to maintain the advantage of playing at home. Moving to the United States, specifically to Houston, has even been contemplated to continue having the support of the fans.
The management of Rayados will have to make decisions in the coming days to ensure that both the Concachampions and Liga MX are not affected by this unexpected situation.
