Gignac Negotiates Contract Renewal with Tigres

French striker André Pierre Gignac has become an idol for Tigres fans by being the club's all-time top scorer. At 39 years old, it is being talked about that his retirement could be near. Rumors have emerged about the non-renewal of his contract, which ends in the summer, but the situation could change with Guido Pizarro as coach.

According to journalist Carlos Ponce de León, Tigres is in talks with Gignac to extend his contract for another year, which would mean he would play until the summer of 2026. This possible renewal has created controversy, as with the previous coach, Veljko Paunovic, it was expected that Gignac would not continue with the team.

With the arrival of Guido Pizarro on the bench, the Frenchman is being reconsidered, along with Nahuel Guzmán and Javier Aquino, who were part of the successful Tigres era since the Apertura 2015. Despite seemingly having his days in the team counted, the return of his former teammate as coach could give him a new opportunity.

André Pierre Gignac holds the record for most goals in Tigres history with 219 goals in 407 matches. However, in the current season, he has had a performance affected by injuries, participating in only three matches without scoring goals.
