The Disciplinary Commission of the Mexican Football Federation announced a sanction against the Monterrey player who initially received a temporary suspension following an action that caused a syndesmosis injury to Jacqueline Ovalle. After thoroughly reviewing the case, it has been determined that the sanction for Diana García will be one match.
In an official statement, it specifies that the investigation focused on the play in the 41st minute of the quarter-final match of the Liga MX Femenil, in which Diana García and Jacqueline Ovalle were involved, resulting in the latter being injured. As a consequence, García will not be able to participate in the first leg semifinal to be held at the BBVA Stadium, but she will be available for the return match of the series that will take place at the Hidalgo Stadium in Pachuca on May 5.
The one-match sanction imposed on Diana García will be effective in Monterrey's next match, which will face Pachuca in the context of the Regio Classic of the Liga MX Femenil. This first leg match is scheduled for Friday, May 2, and will be played at the BBVA Stadium at 8:00 PM.
The last women’s Regio Classic of the quarter-finals of the Clausura 2025 Tournament generated controversy due to the play in which Jacqueline Ovalle was injured following a tackle by Diana García. The situation led to the mentioned sanction, which will prevent García from participating in the first match of the series against Pachuca, although she will be available for the return match in Pachuca.
