First Craft Beer Market in Morelia

The capital of Michoacán, recognized for its vibrant cultural scene both nationally and internationally, will host the first "Beer Market", an innovative project driven by ACERMICH and led by Edgar Mercado, a pioneer in the promotion of craft beer in Mexico.

Mezcal, a symbol of Michoacan identity, will also play a prominent role, thus consolidating an unprecedented beer, gastronomic, and mezcal market in the region. Why a beer market? Due to the lack of specialized spaces dedicated to quality beer culture, as well as the legal figure of a craft beer boutique, which prevents the issuance of specific licenses for the industry.

ACERMICH, established in December 2011, has since promoted beer events; however, the goal now is to maintain a public space where, on a recurring basis once a month or every two months, lovers of quality craft beer, as well as the general public, can purchase, taste, pair, and learn more about the culture of quality beers.

"The first edition of the Beer Market will take place this upcoming Saturday, February 14 from 14:00 to 23:00 hrs, Saturday 15 from 11:00 to 23:00 hrs, and Sunday 16 from 11:00 to 21:00 hrs in the month of love and friendship, February."

It is noteworthy the support provided by the municipal administration of Morelia through Lupita Herrera, Secretary of Economic Development, and Marco Antonio Garibay, Director of Public Spaces, as well as by the State Government, Roberto Monroy, Secretary of Tourism. This support has allowed the beer industry to resurging post-pandemic starting in 2024.

The Beer Market will feature a remarkable gastronomic offer that will include everything from traditional cooking with indigenous cooks to contemporary and international proposals. It will be a unique space that brings together the best of Michoacan, national, and imported craft beer, offering attendees a tasting, pairing, and exhibition experience.
