The Secretary of Public Security and Citizen Protection of the municipality of Morelia reported the arrest of three men in the San Pascual neighborhood, including Roberto C., who is being investigated for his alleged participation in the homicide of Hipólito Mora Chávez, former leader of the self-defense groups of La Ruana. «As a result of preventive patrols, Morelia Police officers detained three people and seized long and short firearms exclusive to the Army's use, as well as magazines, cartridges, and tactical equipment, which were turned over to federal authorities». The municipal institution said in a press release that during the operation, it was confirmed that one of the detainees had an active arrest warrant and has been linked by other authorities to high-impact investigations. Roberto C., known as "El Betillo" or "El Taquero", was being sought by the State Attorney General since June 2023, when Mora Chávez was killed along with his bodyguard in an ambush. State authorities had offered a reward of 100,000 pesos for information that would help locate him. The State Attorney General of Michoacán made the three detainees and the seized firearms available to the Attorney General's Office of the Republic (FGR). So far, only two of the alleged 11 participants in the armed attack have been apprehended, according to the Prosecutor's Office. On May 22, 2024, state and federal authorities detained Rogelio Ángel "N", alias "El Rojo", also allegedly implicated in the murder of former self-defense leader Hipólito Mora. Additionally, on December 19, 2023, Brayan "N" was arrested, who is linked to the criminal group known in the region as "Los Viagras" and is also an alleged participant in the attack.
