The governor of Michoacán, Alfredo Ramírez, has revealed that the federal resources allocated to the state were misappropriated during the previous administration. He also confessed that two and a half years ago he filed complaints with the Attorney General's Office (FGR) against Silvano Aureoles and his team. According to Ramírez, the FGR decided to take the case to a judge in Mexico City to initiate a criminal action.
Currently, Michoacán is experiencing a different financial situation, having managed to stabilize finances, maintain economic liquidity, and meet financial commitments. However, former governor Silvano Aureoles faces accusations of causing property damage to the state amounting to 3 billion 412 million 165 thousand pesos. The FGR claims he authorized the overpriced construction of seven National Guard barracks in different locations.
Due to these accusations, an arrest warrant has been issued against Silvano Aureoles, who is currently a fugitive. Four of his collaborators have been detained and have been placed in preventive justified custody. These collaborators include former officials such as the Secretary of Finance, the Secretary of Public Security, and others.
Ramírez Bedolla has emphasized that after detecting disorder in state finances, an investigation was initiated against Silvano Aureoles for the misappropriation of resources. The situation found was described as a 'embezzlement' that generated a financial chaos in Michoacán. The governor explained that at the beginning of his term, they encountered a situation of 'technical bankruptcy', where teachers had not been paid for three months.
The investigation against former governor Aureoles began half a year after Ramírez Bedolla took office, revealing a challenging landscape in the state's finances.
