Complaint against Cuauhtémoc Blanco: Monreal speaks out

The Attorney General of Justice of Morelos, Uriel Carmona, filed a request for removal of immunity against federal deputy Cuauhtémoc Blanco for the crime of attempted rape. The accusation is based on evidence provided by the victim, his half-sister, indicating that the crime occurred at the official residence of the state when Blanco was governor.

Ricardo Monreal, leader of the parliamentary majority of Morena in the House of Deputies, asserted that he does not want to prejudge anyone and that he will wait for the complaint to arrive officially to understand the reasons. He stated that actions will be taken according to the law and justice will be applied strictly, without protecting anyone who violates the law, including Cuauhtémoc Blanco.

Monreal emphasized the need to combat impunity in Mexican politics and stated that there are no names or individuals in this case, only a crime that must be pursued. He highlighted that the majority group of Morena will act according to the law and justice, regardless of the possible political motivations behind the complaint.

Hugo Eric Flores, president of the Jurisdictional Commission of the House of Deputies, confirmed that the complaint has already been filed and that the corresponding process will be followed. Once ratified, the case will be referred to the Instruction Section for its ruling. At no time will Cuauhtémoc Blanco be protected, and the established legal procedure will be followed.

In this regard, Monreal reiterated that actions will be taken with impartiality and respect for the legal process, avoiding any interference. It is expected that once the complaint is officially received, necessary measures will be taken to investigate and determine the veracity of the accusations.
