Politician Under Fire: Cuauhtémoc Blanco's Legal Troubles

The coordinator of Morena in the Congress of Morelos, Rafael Reyes, declared that they will not tolerate any act of corruption and that anyone who has committed irregularities must face the consequences. He explained that the request for the impeachment against Cuauhtémoc Blanco came in previous legislatures, so it has not yet progressed in the current one. He also highlighted that there are ongoing investigations into former officials by state and federal audits.

The instructive commission of the Chamber of Deputies will meet on Tuesday, March 18, to evaluate the impeachment process of Cuauhtémoc Blanco. Hugo Eric Flores, a Morena deputy, mentioned that it will be decided in that session whether or not to initiate the procedure. Despite a previous meeting determining not to discuss the issue, the Attorney General's Office of Morelos and the deputy have 30 days to present evidence.

Cuauhtémoc Blanco has ruled out resigning from his position as a deputy, stating that he is calm and willing to cooperate in the investigations. Likewise, the parliamentary group of Morena in the Congress of Morelos has expressed its willingness to follow the legal protocols in this case.

The accusations against Cuauhtémoc Blanco, which date back to his term as governor of Morelos, include alleged corruption due to an irregular payment to the Social Democratic Party. Despite the accusations and the investigation files against him, the deputy has denied the allegations and hinted that it is a persecution motivated by personal interests.

Regarding the accusations of attempted rape by his half-sister, Nidia Fabiola, Cuauhtémoc Blanco has stated that the admission of the complaint should not be debated, leaving the resolution of the case in the hands of the authorities.
