On February 6, Uriel Carmona submitted a request for the lifting of immunity against Cuauhtémoc Blanco Bravo, current federal deputy and former governor of Morelos, for alleged attempted rape. Shortly after, deputies from the Congress of Morelos dismissed the state attorney with 16 votes in favor, claiming he did not meet the requirements for the position.
Rafael Reyes, coordinator of Morena in the Congress of Morelos, assured that Carmona's dismissal was not related to the request for the lifting of immunity against Blanco. He pointed out that the decision was made for urgent resolution and that the proper procedures were followed. He added that Carmona has the right to defend himself and will likely appeal to the Supreme Court of Justice of the Nation.
Reyes emphasized that the party is in favor of ending impunity and ensuring that those who commit crimes are punished. If investigations show that Blanco is involved in any wrongdoing, Morena will support the initiation of a political trial against him. He stated that as a parliamentary group, they are determined to distance themselves from any ties to the former governor.
The Morena coordinator highlighted that Carmona's dismissal was a decision based on a lack of trust and was not related to the request for lifting immunity against Blanco. He explained that a thorough analysis was conducted and that the measure was taken immediately, without being influenced by opinions on social media.
