The National Vaccination Week in Nuevo León widely exceeded the initial goal of more than 103 thousand doses, achieving the application of 129 thousand 320 vaccines, according to the report from the Federal Government. Despite the success in the administration of the doses, the state Health Secretariat is urging the population to keep their vaccination schedules up to date.

The vaccination period took place from April 26 to May 3 and was focused on especially attending to vulnerable groups such as children, pregnant women, and the elderly. Institutions such as IMSS, Issste, Sedena, Pemex, and others participated in this campaign, which included the installation of booths in shopping centers, brigades in neighborhoods, and educational institutions.

Among the vaccines administered are HPV, Pneumococcal 23 serotypes, Chickenpox, Hepatitis A, TDPA, TD, DPT, SR, MMR, Rotavirus, Pneumococcal 13 serotypes, Hexavalent, Hepatitis B, and BCG, among others. The main objective of the National Health Week is to increase vaccination coverage and prevent diseases that can be avoided through vaccination.

At the beginning of the campaign, Nuevo León ranked in the top three nationally in the administration of biologicals, sharing this position with Sinaloa and Coahuila. Alma Rosa Marroquín, the state Health Secretary, emphasized the importance of increasing vaccination coverage to prevent eradicated diseases.

The Health Secretary emphasized that vaccination is essential for all age groups, with special attention to children under 6 years of age, pregnant women, and seniors over 60 years old. Health centers remain open to ensure access to vaccination for the entire population, concluded the state official.
