The governor of Puebla, Alejandro Armenta Mier, announced that the state government will rent vacant houses in the region to provide accommodation for migrants, including compatriots who may be repatriated from the United States. This measure arises due to the possibility of an increase in the deportation of migrants with the arrival of the President of the United States, Donald Trump.
In this context, measures will be taken to assist migrants arriving in Puebla, with the aim of providing them support in both accommodation and job searching. The governor announced that he will meet with the Secretary of Economy, VĂctor Gabriel Chedraui, and staff from the Housing Secretariat to design a strategy that facilitates the rental of vacant houses to migrants.
"We will provide adequate attention to our compatriots who need it," emphasized Armenta Mier. He also highlighted that Puebla has more than two thousand formal job openings available, ensuring employment opportunities for the integration of migrants into the workforce. "In Puebla, we respect and value our migrant brothers and sisters. Our commitment is to provide them with the support they need and guarantee their human rights," stated the governor.
Furthermore, Armenta Mier emphasized that his administration will coordinate efforts with the strategy of President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo, and that the federal government already has agreements with other countries to ensure proper attention for migrants.
