The XXXX edition of the National University Games will be held at the Benemérita Universidad Autónoma de Puebla, from May 18 to June 1. The National Council for Sports in Education (CONDDE) is the organization responsible for promoting sports practice among university students in Mexico. These games began in 1947, organized by the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM). In 1960, the Mexican Student Sports Organization (ODEM) was created, which in 1972 joined the International University Sports Federation (FISU). Subsequently, in 1976, the National Council of Universities and Higher Education Institutions for Sports and Recreation (CNUIESDR) was founded, the precursor to the current CONDDE.
Representatives from the Autonomous University of Querétaro (UAQ) performed notably at the recent State Karate Selection. As a result, five athletes from the institution advanced to the regional phase of CONDDE, in preparation for the 2025 National University Games. The competition took place at the Auditorium Gym of the UAQ Airport campus, where karate practitioners from various universities in the state competed in kata and kumite. Three of the participants will represent UAQ in the regional team selection, in the kumite discipline.
The National University Games is the largest university sporting event in Mexico, attracting student-athletes from various higher education institutions to compete in multiple sports disciplines.
