Puebla Prepares for May 5th Celebrations

Today, the commemorative 5th of May parade will take place in Puebla, with significant expectations due to the participation of President Claudia Sheinbaum in her first event as head of the federal Executive during these celebrations. This event, which has over time become one of the most relevant civic festivities at the national level, will bring together thousands of residents and visitors.

To ensure the safety and mobility of citizens and visitors, traffic authorities have implemented an operation that includes road closures and suggested alternate routes. Streets such as Calzada Ignacio Zaragoza and Diagonal Defensores de la República to Bulevar 5 de Mayo will be closed early in the morning, along with Calle Bulevar 5 de Mayo from China Poblana to 31 Oriente.

From the early hours of the day, a festive atmosphere began to take over the Historic Center of Puebla, where members of the Mexican Army, as well as school and civilian contingents, finalize details to participate in the commemorative parade that recalls the victory of the Eastern Army over French forces in 1862.

The Secretariat of National Defense (Sedena) coordinates the official ceremony and the parade, which will feature the participation of members of the Armed Forces, National Guard, state and municipal security bodies, school groups, floats, and marching bands.

In this regard, due to the parade, road closures have been scheduled on important routes from early hours, affecting traffic in the area.
