The 2026 Good Friday procession in Puebla will for the first time feature a 'street of silence,' an inclusive space for people with disabilities or sensitivity to loud noises. The event will take place on April 3 and is expected to draw up to 190,000 people. This corridor will be located on Reforma Avenue, between 7 Norte-Sur and 9 Norte-Sur streets, in the city's Historic Center. Father Sergio Valdivia Bermúdez, a representative of the Archdiocese of Puebla, explained that this initiative aims to ensure inclusion, allowing people with auditory hypersensitivity, the elderly, and faithful who prefer a quieter environment to view the passing of religious images in a serene atmosphere. In contrast, the rest of the route will maintain its solemn and traditional atmosphere, with the participation of saeta singers from balconies, as well as pipers and drummers. Meanwhile, the head of the municipal Secretariat of Economy and Tourism, Jaime Raúl Oropeza Casas, reported that the 2025 edition brought together more than 180,000 attendees. For 2026, an increase in attendance and an economic impact of up to 300 million pesos are projected. Seven religious images will participate in this procession, some from the Tepeaca sanctuary, including: Lord of Marvels, Jesus the Nazarene, Our Lady of Sorrows, Our Lady of Solitude, Lord of the Three Falls, Jesus of Divine Mercy, and the Holy Child Doctor of the Sick. It is estimated that around 190,000 faithful members, along with members of various religious orders, will participate in the procession on April 3.
