Puebla Project for Cable Car System Gains Support

«Having roads, public transport, a cable car system, and bike lanes; that is what will really improve mobility in Puebla,” he stated. He informed that this Tuesday there will be a meeting with environmentalists and collectives where they will present information about the project. This comes after a survey by BUAP was released, showing that 64% of respondents rated the Cablebús project positively and said they would use this transportation. García Parra insisted that the rejection of the project has been driven by opponents who have launched a negative disinformation campaign, which he said has caused concern about an 'ecocide' that he affirmed does not exist and will not occur. “We know that on social media there is a strategy to reject the cable transport system; they are opponents of the system, we have identified them, and they have spread disinformation about a supposed ecocide that will not happen,” he declared. The governor, Alejandro Armenta Mier, for his part, assured that this type of transport is already being implemented in various entities across the country with positive results in urban connectivity, even in areas without relief, meaning flat surfaces, like the one being built in Michoacán. He emphasized that intervening with trees does not mean they will be cut down, as was done in projects from other administrations, such as the elevated bike lane on Bulevar Hermanos Serdán or the lines of the Urban Articulated Transport Network (RUTA). Over 1.9 million Pueblans have backed the project for the construction of the Cable Transport System (Cablebús), assured the cabinet coordinator, José Luis García Parra, who pointed out that the campaign against the project comes from opponents of Morena. In a press conference, the official acknowledged that while it will not fundamentally solve the mobility problem in Puebla, it will be another alternative for people, and starting from its second year of operation, it will be paid for with its own revenues. “The solution is not a single system, but multimobility.”
