Alert Against Social Media Fraud in Puebla

The delegate of the Welfare Secretariat in Puebla, Rodrigo Abdala Dartigues, alerted the public about attempts of fraud through social networks, where false officials request money or personal data in exchange for supposed government support.

In an interview, the official reported that so far, three complaints have been received regarding these types of fraudulent practices, where they use fake profiles and institutional images to impersonate personnel from federal agencies in order to deceive users.

"They try to get you to deposit money in exchange for including you in some program, but all federal government support is free. Alert signals should be activated immediately," Abdala warned.

He specified that these frauds usually spread through fake pages or profiles on social networks, so he called on the population not to provide personal data or fall for suspicious offers. Although Welfare does not file formal complaints for these cases, he indicated that they do make public clarifications when they detect attempts of impersonation.

On another topic, Rodrigo Abdala informed that the relatives of elderly adults will no longer be able to continue collecting social support after the beneficiary's death, thanks to an automated information crossover between the Welfare Secretariat and the National Population Registry (Renapo).

He explained that as soon as the death of a beneficiary is notified, their registration is immediately canceled, and payments to their bank account are suspended. This aims to prevent mispractices and ensure that resources only reach those who really need them.

In summary, in the face of any request for money in exchange for some government support program, it is important to remember that any such request is an attempt of fraud.
