Schools in Puebla continue operations despite volcanic activity

In the state, school activities will continue as usual while government authorities monitor the 10 evacuation routes and temporary shelters in the municipalities near the Popocatépetl volcano. Due to the constant activity of the volcano, elements of Civil Protection and Disaster Risk Management have visited nearby towns to reiterate preventive measures in the event of a possible emergency, such as the 'Family Plan,' 'Emergency Backpack,' and 'Volcanic Alert Traffic Light.'

State authorities have distributed masks and brochures with recommendations to cope with ash fall and have started coordinated work with the Sedena, the Ministry of Infrastructure and Education, as well as local authorities, to supervise evacuation routes, the transport circuit, and to identify people with disabilities and the elderly in case of evacuation.

Furthermore, Governor Sergio Céspedes Peregrina confirmed that classes will not be suspended due to this volcanic activity, as it is considered part of the natural phenomena associated with climate change at this time of year. Céspedes Peregrina assured that the evacuation routes are in perfect condition and that interventions in the roads near the volcano will continue to ensure safety and the necessary conditions in case of an eventual emergency.
